The appetite for Samsung and Android smartphones is as strong as ever, as evidenced by the announcement that pre-orders for the Galaxy S4 outstripped both its predecessor, the S3, and the iPhone 5. And given that the massive popularity of the Galaxy S3 extended to its junior version, the Galaxy S3 Mini, there's every reason to believe the O2 Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will perform just as blisteringly well. So, just what can you expect to see from this mini marvel?
Samsung might want to rethink it's naming of devices, because while it's true that the S4 Mini will be smaller in size than the Galaxy S4, when compared to other smartphones on today's market, it's actually pretty big.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini on O2 in fact packs a 4.3" Super AMOLED qHD display (bigger, even, than iPhone 5) with 540 x 960 pixel resolution. At 256ppi, it might be lower than the 441ppi the S4 offers, but it's still very competitive.
The S4 features some incredible technological advancements, like hands-free Smart Scroll and Air Gestures technology. Unfortunately, these didn't make it onto the mini model, but it still has plenty of things going for it.
There are four variants of the Galaxy S4 Mini. These are:
The GT-I9190's spec sheet consists of HSPA+ capability, Samsung's very own Exynos 5210 quad-core processor (made up of dual Cortex-A15 and dual Cortex-A7 cores) and ARM big.LITTLE technology. Some versions of the S4 pack an octa-core Exynos processor with big.LITTLE technology, so this is, quite literally, a scaled down version. big.LITTLE enhances smartphone performance and efficiency by distributing processing power in the best way possible, while reducing battery power consumption. This means you get more impressive performance and greater battery life in one, which can only be a good thing.
The Galaxy S4 Mini will of course be availble on O2's On and On plan, with unlimited minutes and texts and 1GB data FREE at £37/month, OR just £32/month with an upfront cost of £69.99.
